Born: Maria Alejandra Delfino on February 20, 1981
Majandra Delfino plays the sassy, saucy waitress Maria DeLuca, the polar opposite best friend to Liz Parker.
Born in Caracas, California, Maria Alejandra's sister had trouble pronouncing
her name so she made up the name Majandra and it has stuck ever since. By
the age of three Majandra was already a born performer, singing and dancing
to songs she heard on the radio. Her mother was very proud of her daughter's
talents and enrolled her in ballet, acting, singing, and piano lessons. Majandra
was encouraged to perform and expand her artistic talents by her mother and
her stepfather Leopoldo and she soon joined the local theatre grabbing parts
in the theatre productions of Grease and Oliver. At the
age of ten Majandra landed the part of the dancer in The Nutcracker with
the Miami Ballet.
Majandra started a band called China Doll with her best friend and Daughter of Bee Gee Maurice Gibb, Samantha Gibb. The two began performing around town and were asked to open for the Bee Gees at a benefit concert. Majandra decided she wanted to try acting when she was fourteen but her parents were skeptical of the "Hollywood scene" and gave her six months to try it and make a success of it. Within three months Majandra landed a lead role in the movie "Zeus and Roxanne." Soon after wrapping that movie Majandra landed a lead role on the short lived sitcom "The Tony Danza Show." Majandra continued to land guest spots on shows like "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", and movies like the "Secret Lives of Girls" opposite Linda Hamilton.
Months before her high school graduation, she received a call about auditioning for Roswell. Since Roswell Majandra has released a cd called The
Sicks, played the lead in a tv movie called "Celeste In the City", guest starred on "Boston Public" and "Three Moons Over Milford." You can see Majandra latest work in the movie "State's Evidence."
